ship wrecked

I don't know if dedicating blog posts is a thing....but I'm going to do it anyway.
My sister Maggie is a true inspiration.  Years ago now, she left to go on an adventure and is still living it.
She's taught me that beauty is by the sea.
Maggie, this one's for you!

If you'd like to learn of her adventure and how you could go on your own, two words.... Picton Castle.

weekend roundup

What a lovely weekend. And it was all brought to you by my Bf.
On Friday night, my Bf got home from work and quickly scooped me up and said, "put on some warmer clothes, we're going outside!". I had an feeling that we were possibly going down to the beach, but didn't know about the rest! On his way home he picked up a bunch of little treats from Capers, even strawberries and whip cream! And packed up a nice warm blanket for us to snuggle in. It was the perfect way to end the workweek and enjoy the sunset. What a guy.
I also don't have any pictures of it all, being a surprise and all, but i definitely painted a picture in my memory.
The other highlight of my weekend was the amazing weather on Sunday, nearly 20 degrees!
We spent the afternoon down at Jericho Beach, blanket and all, just soaking up the sun. And yes, its true i was in shorts and a tube top....and a scarf.
We brought a few snacks (left over strawberries), and I caught up on some reading. It was such a relaxing way to spend the weekend. I can't wait for more nice weather, so we can re-live this whole weekend!

on the mend

Yesterday, I pretty much spent the entire day in my bed, in and out of sleep. It seems to have helped, because today I really do feel like I'm on the mend. So much so, that I decided to go for a walk around my neighborhood.
Breath some fresh air. Get my body moving. Feel "not asleep" as my Bf put it.
I live walkably close to Kits Beach, So I headed down there to take in the ocean breeze. It felt good. I took a seat on the benches in front of the Boathouse Restaurant and let the view soak in.
Only after a few minutes to myself I was appraoched by some Japanese Exchange Students who have only been in Vancouver in 4 or 5 days. Their class was out trying to complete a survey about people and travelling. So I humored them an answered their questions. They told me their thoughts on Canadians, "I think Canadians are bright people, they all say thank you when they get off the bus, in Japan, no one says that." That me laugh and smile. Both things I needed to
have happen today.
Afterwards, I was asked if I like Justin Bieber, followed by a short serenade of "Somebody to Love". Again, I laughed and smiled.

I never thought I'd be boasting Biebs on my blog, but hey, there's a first for everything!
