washed ashore

Happy weekend everyone! I hope your enjoying this fabulous Vancouver weather....Not! wait....it Not still a thing?....No? I didn't think so.
Anyways, the rain is pouring in the city, the snow is falling in the mountains, and I'm lying on the couch under a blanket.  All is normal on the west side of the country.
These photos were actually taken last weekend down at Kits Point Dog Beach (when the sun happened to be shining, than went behind a cloud right as we pulled out the camera).  There were a couple of boats that had washed ashore, broken and weathered.  It was kinda cool.  I took some photos that I'll share later this week.
With my busy schedule, finding down time has been hard to find, so it was nice to walk around Kits for the afternoon with the Bf and Kea in tow and just mosey.  Those little moments really help me decompress.

I'll let you (and me) get back to your weekend now.

queen B

Last weekend was a total girls weekend.  I spent Saturday with some ladies shopping our hearts out, having some great sandwiches for lunch, followed by some more shopping, all before getting ready for Beyonce in concert.  Wow.  That woman is filled with magic.  If you've heard the quote, "you have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyonce". followed by seeing her perform live, you might not think this quote to be true.  Two words....Sequin.  Onesie.
We had amazing floor seats and got a really great view of the gorgeous lady when she flew over the crowd to a little mini stage.  There were three people between her and me, I may have been a teeny bit excited. Check out the video to see just that!
Ashly was kind enough to take a few photos of my concert outfit in her beautiful living room.
Girl time was definitely needed and appreciated.  Thanks for the fun day girls!

baby, it's cold outside

Wow, so the last two weeks just flew by.  Working retail during the holidays can sometimes take over your life, and it's barely December.  I have to admit though, I'm getting pretty excited for the holidays.
This weekend I'm planning on decorating our apartment, picking out a tree (a real one, but a mini version about 3 feet tall), putting together my family's Christmas package (snailmail deadline is a comin'!).
So, pretty much the funnest, most holiday filled weekend ever!

Are you ready for the holidays?

slow weekends & grey touques

Now that November is well on it's way here in Vancouver, things have become a little quieter and cozier at our place.  The Bf is now back to his regular schedule of Monday to Friday, after working like a crazy man this past summer.  We've finally gotten back to having weekends together.  We're spending nice quiet mornings at home with homemade breakfasts, watching movies in the afternoons, and one of my favourite weekend things to do together is taking Kea for walks.
I think we're all happiest when the three of us are together.
These photos are from last weekend while we were out running some errands in our neighborhood.  I had just gotten back from Calgary, AB and needed something familiar and low key.  It was a pretty slow moving walk, but it was just the right pace.
What are some of your favourite weekend things to do this time of year?

happy thanksgiving

Just wanted to wish everyone, in Canada, a Happy Thanksgiving! Get outside and enjoy this fall weather!
We're having a couple of friends over and are going to attempt cooking my first turkey.  I'll let you know how it goes! All I know is that our apartment is going to be filled with the yummiest smells, great people, and lots to be thankful for.

the woods are calling

Sorry things have been silent around here.  I've been working inventory at my day job, and well, for anyone that's ever worked inventory anywhere before (including myself), it's basically the worst thing ever.  It's mind numbing, it's meticulous, and makes me go a little crazy....I'm talking fits of laughter for no reason kinda crazy... but none the less! it must be done!
So, to celebrate being freed from the 9 to 5, the Bf and I are going on a camping trip this weekend.  I'm looking forward to relaxing, being quiet, and sleeping.  All things I haven't done for about a week now.
I hope you all get out there and enjoy your weekend! Get a little sun on your shoulders, and perhaps a drink in your hand.  I'll be cheer-sing you from in front of the campfire!!

*Let's be honest here, my 9 to 5 is more like 6 to 3..... oh man, i miss sleeping in.
*this pretty photo was taken by the BF. i know, he's a keeper.

private cafe

We've been without a dining room table for quite some time, and meals at the coffee table were getting a bit tiresome.  So, when this little dining set fell into our hands we were quite relieved.
It made Saturday morning pretty much amazing, catching up on some magazines while eating fresh bread and homemade jam, along with a hot cup of tea.  Oh, and some fresh flowers really made it feel like my very own  private cafe, view included.
You may just find me there this weekend as well! Happy Friday!

Desolation Resort

During our long weekend away, mentioned here, we stayed at Desolation Resort in Powell River on the Sunshine Coast.  I had bought a Living Social Deal way back in the summer and booked it so far in advance that the anticipation was killing me!  I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived (minus the pouring rain), but our little cabin, full of amenities, was quaint and surrounded by tall trees and beautiful views.
We walked the grounds to take it all in, including the kayak and canoes, the clams, the bridge leading out to the dock, and the totem poll.  Definitely recommend!
this is solely my opinion.

a ferry ride

This past weekend the Bf and I took Friday off work and went for a long weekend away on the Sunshine Coast.  We had a full days drive including two ferry rides.  I don't know about you, but I love taking the ferry! I'm staring out the windows, leaning over the railings, and have to walk the whole ship to see out from every angle.  We made a couple of stops along the way too.  We walked around a couple of small towns, and found a lunch spot that looked out to the seaplanes.
Even though it was a pretty gray weekend, we had a nice relaxing time.  It's hard not to when you're surrounded by such pretty views.
More views to come from our lakefront cabin!  Coming soon, stay tuned!

happy thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! Mine was filled with....well, lots of work actually.  But, I managed to squeeze in a little family time, and some turkey.  Saturday was a great day to get outside, so the Bf, Kea and I went out to Sasamat Lake for a hike.  We did a loop around the lake and stopped in a sunny spot for a picnic lunch and let the pooch go for a swim.
It's moments like these that I really feel thankful for our little family.
Oh! and a shoutout to the rest of the fam.... I'm so thankful for you guys too! Love you!

happy friday!

summer 2008
I've got my big sister coming to into town this weekend, and couldn't be more excited! I haven't seen her since January! She's in town for a friend's wedding, but is coming early so we can hang out too.  She live in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, so she hasn't made the trek to Vancouver before.  I can't wait to play tourist and wander around the city in the lovely weather we've been having.  My sister's top 3 requests are to see a mountain, Granville Island, and Stanley Park.  We'll see what else we can manage to squeeze in ;)
any suggestions?  Have a wonderful weekend!

forts

It feels like Monday is ever lasting this week.  Well, make that Tuesday, Monday was a holiday this week.  I was lucky enough to have Sunday off and only work a half day on Monday, so I got some quality time with my loves.  I have to admit though, I finished work on Saturday afternoon, and I didn't leave the house until I had to go to work on Monday afternoon.  The weather forced it upon us! It rained nearly all weekend long, so what's better to do than watch movies all day? Watching movies all day in your pajamas! And snacking all day long! And building a fort! ....ok, there was no fort, the Bf wouldn't let me.  I really wonder sometimes what he has against living room forts, it's only pillows, blankets and amazing-ness! Oh well, maybe I'll just have to build one when he's not home and have an amazing time without him.
Wow, I don't quite know if most of that made sense....oh well, at least you get to see a cute photo of Kea.

picnics

You know what I love.....picnics.  They are such a sweet way of spending some time together outside with some good food.  Whether its with your love or friends, just relaxing, talking, reading, whatever you want.  Over the weekend we definitely weren't the only people out there having a picnic, the sunshine was just inviting people out there.  We made up a couple of sandwiches, potato salad, ice tea and a few other things and took our shoes off on the blanket.  This summer there will be plenty more where that came from!

Burnaby Mountain

This past weekend was filled with the best weather.  Over 20 degrees, sunshine and short skirts.  We made our way outside as much as possible.  On Saturday we went to Burnaby Mountain.  We walked around (not so much a hike), checked out the amazing views and had a picnic while laying out in the sun.  It was the perfect start to summer.
