glass half full

Well, here I am with my freshly baked cookies and a glass of milk, to tell you about my latest news.  And if I can say, thank you to all the supportive comments on my mention of a change coming up.  I'm leaving my current job in retail management.  I've been feeling like it's time for a bit of a break.  I'm at a point in my life where I have all these 'things' that I want to try and the list has been growing as time goes by, so why not now.  I have a few plans in place, including a couple of courses, and the hope of some freelance writing and blogging, now it's just a matter of putting it all in motion.  Remember when I said I may need to lean on you for some support? This is kinda what I meant.  Any suggestions, contacts, advice or just moral support is kinda what I'm looking for.  It feels a bit scary to be trying out new things in a place where I don't know a lot of people, even after being here for a year and a half, but it's kind of exciting too.  I've always been a glass half full kinda gal.  Here goes nothing!

3 weeks and 1 day

In 3 weeks and 1 day there are going to be some changes.  Mostly concerning my life, you guys will be doing fine, trust me.  I can't get into all the details just yet, but when I can, hopefully there will be feelings like excitement, happiness and adventure (rather than nervousness, doubt, and fear).  Let's all just cross our fingers and we'll go from there.
I CAN tell you that I have a vacation coming up that I'm super excited for!! I've been California dreamnin' for a while now, and can't wait to be there!

When the time comes, I may ask for some advice, or suggestions, or anything really.... in the mean time thank you for all your support! Now and in advance ;)

Happy 1 Year Vancouver!

So, it's official.  I've been in Vancouver for a year! The Bf and I have really made this move happen.  We have permanent jobs, we love our apartment, and we're happy.  Then why do I feel so down?  Ever since the light bulb came on and the one year mark came, I've been feeling very reflective about the past year and the few years before that.  Moving across the country was such a big decision and I think I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that, thus far things have worked out.  Don't get me wrong, I love living in Vancouver, I love being here with the most wonderful man, I love the little life we've created together and I wouldn't want it to be with anyone else, but I still fee like something is......not wrong, not missing, but just something.  I have an idea of what it is, and I think it's really silly of me to think it, and by no means am I asking for sympathy or anything, but it's really difficult to make friends somewhere new.  Somewhere where we knew a very small hand full of people and of course, those people are very special to us, but they have their own lives and their own things to do and I understand that.  Back home the Bf and I had a very close-knit group of friends and family that really support us.  You've all heard me talk about my sisters, and how close we are, they're like my best friends.  I miss that companionship, that feeling that they know me and every time we see each other its picking up where we last left off and being silly and quirky together.  Calling up a friend and saying hey, let's meet in our usual spot and grab a coffee, and you end up talking about nothing, but it still means something.
I think I'm just coming to the realization that in order to meet new people and create relationships I hold the key in my hands.  Only I can put myself out there.  Only me.

Happy 1 year Vancouver!

Thank you to all of you.  With this blog I've been able to express myself and my thoughts no questions asked.  I appreciate each and every person that reads.
Thanks for letting me rant.

a little hello!

Hey Everyone! So, today is currently my Sunday. With my work schedule being different every week, I`m getting back into the swing of things and starting to be used to it all. So that does mean a few changes around here as well. I'm not going to be able to post everyday (which has already started decreasing :( ) and a few of my daily projects, such as travel tuesdays, may not get to happen on their allotted days. However, with all of that being said, I love my blog and all of you that read it, so we're not going anywhere. Instead, I'll be able to post 3-4 times a week, and travel tuesday will now become my travel diary. I hope you are all able to stick around while my life and my blog get the chance to reconnect again.
I'd love to give a big shoutout to all of you that have been by Anthropologie since its opening last Friday. We've gotten such a great response from the women of Vancouver, and I just know that the shopping and exploring of the store is just the beginning. Don't be afraid to see if I'm there, I'd love to say hello!
Now all you Vancouverites, go out and enjoy that sunshine!!!

p.s. that photo is from right outside my kitchen window, as we speak!!

little life

Do you ever feel like everything is finally coming together? Like your life is at least a glimpse of what you've always hoped for? Like the all the hard work and strife has finally paid off?
I don't blame you if your not quite able to say yes to all or any of these questions, but for the first time in my life, yes is a possibility. Yes is approaching. Yes is so close, I can nearly grab it!
I wanted to let all of you lovelies know how much I appreciate all your kind words and support over the last few months. And you know what? Its all gonna happen for all of us really soon, I can feel it. So, here's some positive energy coming your way! Grab it! Hold on to it! And cherish it! And while your at it, spread it! And pass it on!

new job, new me

What an awesome week! I started my new job and I absolutely love it!
I kept things on the low down until I got started, but for those of you that don't know, I'm part of the management team for the Anthropologie thats going to be opening on South Granville, Vancouver. The store is planned to open in mid May and is going to be pretty big.
I'm so excited!
I can't wait to get in there and really dive into my new position and get going.
Be sure to come by once the store is open to say hello!

Oh! and if you or anyone you know loves fashion, has a creative eye, and genuinely enjoys talking with people, we're hiring!
Leave me a comment with any questions you may have and I'll definitely get back to you as soon as possible.

under my umbrella

I seem to be getting good use of my Hunter's lately. And I think this weekend will be no excuse.
As for my new found goals so far this week, I already have an epic fail. I won't make 4 runs this week, I'll only make 3. Does a yoga class count? I think it might this week. I'll let myself get away with that, only if you will!
As far as something I made, I'm in the midst of a couple of projects. And actually, I did bake a Chocolate Chip Fudge Loaf, but the bad blogger in me, didn't take any photos of it.
Lastly for my wise closet use, I can't lie, I haven't been out of the house much this week, other than Wednesday (the crazy day I had), and to walk the dog. However, my ensemble in my photos for today, is a little remixed. Pretty much my whole outfit is from American Eagle, (leggings, tank, denim woven, belt and scarf), my jacket is from Anthropolgie, Mittens are gifted, and my umbrella is Coach.
For those who don't know, I used to work for AE, so a large chuck of my wardrobe is from there. Basically, if you need to know anything about denim, I'm your girl.

Anyways, I got a little bit off topic there. Actually there wasn't much of a topic today, oh well, its Friday and my brain clearly knows it. I hope you all have wonderful weekends! and maybe get a touch of sun! fingers crossed!!

Challenge the Everyday

I don't usually write my daily blog posts after reading everyone else's blogs, but today I was slightly distracted. I noticed the obvious theme in all of my favorites, everyone is challenging themselves this month. Whether it be the 30 for 30 Challenge*, spending habits, or fitness training, its all to better yourself and challenge the everyday.
I'm now inspired to put myself to the test and see how I can surprise myself. My challenge for the month of February is going to consist of a few different things.

1. Jog 4 times a week - I've mostly been getting to 3 times, but I think that one extra day will make the difference and bring me to a whole new level of healthy.

2. Create something with my own hands once a week - now this goal can fall into a few different categories. I'm a little bit crafty, so i knit and sew a little bit (I'm on a sewing halt though, as I'm waiting for my parents to mail me the new sewing machine I got for Christmas). And I enjoy baking and cooking as well. All these things will keep my brain creative, and will jump start my design skills.

3. Use my closet wisely - Creating outfits that use what I own, meanwhile keeping a little extra moo-la in my pocket.

These things may seem a small and insignificant, but I really do feel that when trying to better yourself, trying is the first step. Every baby step from there is at least a step in the right direction.
So, to all my favourite bloggers I commend all of you for your awesomness! and thank you for being such an inspiration.
And to my readers, thank you for your on going support. I am truly humbled by all the positive feedback I receive from you.
What are you doing to challenge yourself this month? Any words of wisdom?

The 30 for 30 Challenge is a program that Kendi started over at Kendi Everyday. It's an amazing way to put your fashion foot forward. Are you bold enough to try? I missed out on this month, but I think I just might have to try once the next one rolls around.
