a little scoop of heaven

I've gotten word the the Bf has safely landed, and the surprise couldn't have gone any better!
I'm so glad it worked out.
On Saturday night (the night before the Bf left), we went on a little mimi-date. No dinner, no movie, but frozen yogurt instead! We went to this little place on West 4th Ave called Scoop. And, holy moly, it was soooooo good!! It was our first time trying it and how it works is you pick your flavor of frozen yogurt and then you pick all your own toppings and sauces from their amazing buffet. Be a touch weary though with the amount of toppings you put, they sell it to you via weight. That could be one hefty little sundae! But, totally worth it.
We finished off our evening with a little walk down near the beach.
I hate goodbyes.

Seeing Things

Me: Oooo! Is that a dog in the water?
Bf: No babe, thats a seal.

Clearly I was seeing things.

The Bf and I went down to Granville Island last week for a lunch date and along the way there we saw the coolest thing! This guy was creating perfectly balanced rock sculptures. No glue, nails or screws, just sheer balance. It was crazy. I can't lie, I had the smallest thought of running through there and knocking them all over. Does that make me a bad person? ;)

weekend roundup and last day for the giveaway!

Today is the last day to put in any last minute guesses for the love giveaway! From last weeks posts (Mon Feb, 14-Fri Feb 18) tally up the love and write your guess in a comment. For an extra point become a follower and let me know in a separate comment. And you could win a Handmade Mug Cozy!! Made by me, just for you!!

To say things were a little busy this weekend would be a bit of an understatement, and moving was the theme. Between my bf's sister packing to make the move to Toronto, our other roommate packing up to move out too, there has been a lot of sorting, and "do you want these?", and suitcase filling going on.
On Friday night we went to my bf's sister's going away party. Tons of friends came to say their goodbyes and have one last hooray before the east gulps her up. (I'm just kidding, no one is eating anybody, but she will be in the T. for about a year). It was a great time.
Saturday sort of blended in with lots of packing and organizing. I tried to make venture out to the beach to enjoy the sunshine and a good book, but I didn't last too long due to the chill that was the freezing cold wind.
Sunday my bf and I agreed that we'd enjoy the day together. So after having lunch with a friend at Granville Island, we took a little ride on the Skytrain. I had been told that the Millennium line has pretty views and decent sights to see. We got off at Burnaby Lake and walked around for a bit. There are a bunch a trails and pathways that take you around the lake. We hoped back on the train afterwards and headed towards home. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon.
We're still playing tourist now and then for the chance to see and do all the fun things Vancouver has to offer.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend!
and to all my Ontario friends and family, Happy Family Day!

Bright Nights

My bf and I shared our 2 year anniversary last week and he surprised me with a lovely little evening out. Bright Nights in Stanley Park. This winter wonderland is full of Christmas cheer, including a train ride! Its free admission, although the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund does accept a suggested donation of $2 (minimum). The train ride is less then $10, a nice cheap date! Tons of families and kids enjoying the lights all with a nice warm cup of apple cider. Oh, and make sure you go after dark, so you can take advantage of the lights and sights!

To find out more, check out the Vancouver Parks website....The festivities go till Jan 2nd.
