Sit.Stay.Love

Anthropologie put on a great event this past weekend, Sit.Stay.Love.  A pet adoption and supply drive partnered with the BCSPCA.  I think it was the cutest thing I've ever seen, hello! homemade pupcakes!
There were snacks and drinks for both the customers and the dogs, along with all the best dog appropriate home decor, dachshund tea towel anyone?
The Bf and I stopped by to support and for Kea to make a few friends.
She loved it, treats and petting from everyone, spoiled girl.

They had a small selections of dogs that were looking for forever homes, and hopefully each one of them will find one.  The store had 2 different times set up to meet the pups, but by the evening the little guys were tuckered out from putting their best paw forward, so had to head back to the shelter (hence no photos of the dogs :( ).
For those of you that know me well, you know I am a big supporter of adopting animals.  There are so many out there that are looking for some love, and if I can toot our own horn (well, Kea's horn), we have the best dog.  We couldn't be a happier family.

To take a look at dogs for adoption check out the BCSPCA website.
And keep watch at Anthropologie for upcoming events!

the brightest pants there ever was

These are the brightest pants....ever.  I sometimes get strange looks for wearing them, most likely do to their highlighter glow, but I wear them anyway! They scream summer time to me, being so bright and all, but I was really trying to think of how I could transition them into to fall.  A comfy sweater seemed to do the trick.
I`ll be honest, I may not be able to pull off these bright jeans in the middle of January, but if you challenge me, I just might have to try!
jeans: AG from Anthropologie, sweater: h&m, necklace: Stella & Dot, purse: Urban Behavior (super old)

RACHEL Rachel Roy & The Bay

This past Friday at the Bay, Downtown Vancouver, Rachel Roy was unveiling her latest fall RACHEL collection.  The lovely lady was doing a meet and greet with fans and was genuinely excited to be meeting and talking with everyone.  And I have to say, her smile is absolutely infectious!
The party was filled with local bloggers, some of the Bay's most stylish fashionistas and of course some delicious goodies and drinks.  It was such a great night!
You can find Rachel's line in the White Space at The Bay, Downtown Vancouver.  As well as her website.
I'm new to the RACHEL line, but I definitely found a few pieces that I'm seriously coveting.
Here are a few of my favourite pieces:

indian summer

Wow, it's been quiet around here.  For the last week I've been sick, I even stayed home from work for a couple of days.  But, finally I'm starting to feel better.
When you're in bed for nearly 7 days, it makes it hard to have something to talk about.  I'm sure this week will be more eventful..... let's hope anyways.
p.s. Hey Vancouver, thanks for the indian summer!

30x30 recap

So, there they are, all 30 outfits!  Ashly stated that it was a bit of an "a-ha moment" for her to see all of her outfits in one big collage, and I have to say I completely agree.  This is one months worth of outfits using only 30 items.  Crazy!

A couple of things that I learned from this experience:

1. 30 items is enough.  I just like having a few more choices.... within reason.  (you thought I didn't learn anything there for a second, fooled you!)  I found that near the end, I was having a little trouble being creative with my styling, and would be like, "if only I had____". I like a couple more choices, and I'm ok with that.
2. I love summer dressing! I admit that this challenge would be much harder in the colder months.  Layering and keeping warm comes to mind and automatically I feel like I need 5 sweaters on.  30 items would be extremely difficult.
3. I can keep my shopping under control.  The only shopping that I did was at the big Sale I told all of you about, and I did that with a plan and it made a big difference.  Also starting a new job pretty much right at the beginning of this challenge made things a little extra stressful.  While working with all kinds of different fashion items for my entire work day, I challenged myself to not look at it as a cute sweater, but as a product I needed to make look good, in order for the company to do well.  This helped a lot, this and not letting myself dilly dally around after work saying "I'm just going to look".
4. Ashly is awesome! It really helped having a partner in crime while completing this challenge.  We were able to lean on each other in moments of weakness, bounce outfit ideas of each other, and generally support each other through the process.  If you're not reading her blog regularly, you're missing out! Go see!!

What am I looking forward to the most, now that the 30x30 challenge is over?

Well, to be honest, I'm most excited about expanding my work wardrobe.  If you remember, I have to wear all black, and it's one thing to have a black top on with black pants, and another to have those two things on and have them be a cohesive, young professional, looking outfit.

And of course, being able to wear my all of my other favourite things. They must be feeling so neglected.
Closet, I'm coming!!

last day!

This is the final outfit of my 30x30 challenge, and wow, it's a pretty boring one.  Jeans and t-shirt, hey, at least it's a classic!  I was pretty relieved to have finally completed this crazy challenge and get use of the rest of my closet.  Oh and shop!
I'll be honest by saying, it's kind of lame, that the thing I'm most looking forward to is expanding my work wardrobe.  That was a challenge in itself, seeing that I didn't quite plan my work wardrobe to be outfits.  I just picked a couple of black items and figured that would do.  I already know of a few items I need to even that out, and actually create looks and outfits that are cohesive and not just black bottoms and tops.  The big sale I went to was a great starting off point (I'll share with you those finds soon!).
Look forward to my recap next week!
Here's Ashly's final 30x30 outfit!

private beach...sort of

We had this dog beach all to ourselves.  And the people in their boats in the bay in front of it, just parked drinking wine.  But, it's ok, they were just far enough away that it still felt peaceful.  It was a dog day.  We did anything Kea wanted, even if it meant throwing the ball a hundred times.
If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen a photo of Kea swimming in the bay, it's so cute!

tom

Two days of toms! I haven't really noticed, but I do wear them a lot.  And the funny thing is, when I bought them I bought 2 pairs, this green pair and a red pair that has red and white stripes on the sides.  I wore the green ones first and, apparently, haven't been able to take them off! I've worn the red ones a couple of times, but don't have quite the same love for them.  I'm sure it will come though, once the green ones die out.... I hope there is no shoe animosity going on.

p.s. you probably all know this, but Toms does amazing things with their One for One movement.

jump and jack

I'm back! Whoa, what a whirlwind trip!  The Bf and I went last minute camping in the Okanagan near Vernon for the long weekend and it was so great.  Beautiful scenery, yummy food and really relaxing sums it all up.
Packing for this trip went really quickly and that's all thanks to this 30x30 challenge.  I wasn't wasting time humming and ha-ing over what I thought I might feel like wearing two days from now.  And proved to me that I don't need to pack everything, plus the kitchen sink.
I owe you my last five outfits and recap, and those are all coming over the next 2 days, be ready!
Oh, and I apologize in advance for taking over your news feed ;)

Check out Ashly's final outfits and her recap!
(she's such a good blogger, she stayed on schedule)
