Squamish Style - day 3

t shirt: skater store in Washington state
shorts: American Eagle
booties: H&M
necklaces: Aldo and Helloo Sailor
bracelets: Helloo Sailor

So, the third and final day of Squamish Valley Music Festival was a long one, but a good one.  I wore my hair in a bun, mainly out of necessity, camping, no showers, hot weather, and dancing too much = top knot.
We arrived on Saturday in time to see Diamond Rings, followed by Divine Fits.  Both bands starting with the letter 'D' were delightful.  Next up was Gogol Bordello, and the crowd loved it.  The stage was covered in people playing all kinds of different instruments, doing all kinds of different dances.
But my favourite show of the whole festival was Fitz And The Tantrums.  I met up with a friend to watch them and we had a great time.  That friend left the show early so she could catch another band, and the Bf was supposed to come find me for the second half, but no one found me. So, instead I watched the second half of Fitz And The Tantrums by myself....and it was awesome.  I danced my ass off.
Next we watched Childish Gambino.  One word, Community.  If you watch Community, than you know my love for Troy.  Then we caught the big headliners Queens of the Stone Age, but I couldn't stay to watch the whole thing.  As I mentioned in day 1 coverage, food trucks.  I had to have the 'slumdog millionaire' mac and cheese from the Mac and Cheese food truck a second time.  I just couldn't get enough of it!!
We finished off the night with some Pretty Lights, and not only called it a night, but called it a festival.

sunnies: H&M

The second day of Squamish Valley Music Festival was the day I was most looking forward too.  The line up was filled with some of my favourtie bands.  And what a day it was!!
We arrived in time to see Deap Valley, a two part, girl grunge band, who pleasantly surprised me.  The amount of sound these two ladies can conjure up, paired with a killer voice, it was pretty much a dance party and totally got us pumped up for the day.  Next up was a must see for me, Dragonette.  The lead singer, Martina Sobara, was my choice for best dressed artist, with her high waisted denim shorts, striped blouse and black studded ankle boots. Then followed by, what must have been an audience sing along, with Dan Mangan. At this point our group split up a bit and some went to watch Jurassic 5, which is rumored to be one of the best shows of the entire festival,  and some, including me, stayed to get a good spot for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.  You'll be glad to hear the Macklemore didn't disappoint, and in the near future will have dual citizenship to Canada.  I think he's pretty stoked about that.  Last was Vampire Weekend, and let me tell you, the crowd was loving it! I had so much fun, that I came home with a tshirt!
With all that being said, it was a looong day.  We went to watch A Tribe Called Red, but I didn't last more than fifteen minutes, before heading to bed.
Festival goers do have the luxury of sleeping in, seeing as most things don't get under way until the early afternoon.  And sleep in, I did.  Muahahahah!

Squamish Style - day 1

acid wash denim dress: Target
booties: H&M
handbag: Coach
necklace: Anthropologie
sunnies: H&M
bracelets: Helloo Sailor
feather headress: diy

As my first music festival experience has come and gone, I can't wait until next year!
The amazing music, great people watching, drinks, food trucks....more about that later.
The day 1 line up was short and sweet.  We arrived just as Portage and Main ended, next up was The Belle Game, they were pretty chill, great for the first night.  We heard a bit of Dustin Bentall & The Smokes while getting some dinner, and finished off the night with Matt Mays, whom I didn't know much about, but was super impressed!
Stay tuned for day 2!

diy: feather headdress

With Squamish Valley Music Festival starting tomorrow, I thought it would be fitting to share with you, one of the key pieces to one out my planned outfits.  The feather headdress.
I was inspired by this one, and thought I'd give it a go.
I picked up some scrap leather at the local fabric shop,
and luckily a piece was long enough to make some straps.
Here are the super easy steps:

1. Cut out your leather pieces to make some sort of rectangular shape.
As long or as short, as wide or as thin as you want.

2. Glue down your straps.
3. Create a soft seam by folding over the edges and gluing them down as well.
 4. Lay out your feathers and arrange them however you like.  Then with a strip of glue, lay then out lining up to the half way point of the width of your leather.

5. Then glue down the bottom half of your leather creating a center fold.
6. Voila!

prim & proper

boyfriend jeans: Anthropologie
striped peplum top: Target
shoes: too old to remember
sunnies: h&m
necklace: forever 21
bracelet: Helloo Sailor and American Eagle

I decided to beat the heat in not a tank top and shorts for a day and look like an actual put together adult.  Let's just say it's a good thing I remembered to put on deodorant.
Anyways, it's the long weekend and here I sit in our living room watching Gilmore Girls (season 5), attempting to make my to-do list for the next 2 weeks.  Things will be a little hectic with prepping our apartment for a house guest, going to Squamish Valley Music Festival, and then leaving for a week back home for vacation (read: packing up my Mom's house for her move).
laundry - check! outfit planning - check! ipod updating - check!
Looking forward to it all!
