Seeing Things

Me: Oooo! Is that a dog in the water?
Bf: No babe, thats a seal.

Clearly I was seeing things.

The Bf and I went down to Granville Island last week for a lunch date and along the way there we saw the coolest thing! This guy was creating perfectly balanced rock sculptures. No glue, nails or screws, just sheer balance. It was crazy. I can't lie, I had the smallest thought of running through there and knocking them all over. Does that make me a bad person? ;)

Sand in my Sandles

Morning Everyone!
I thought I'd start out the week with an outfit post. This is hopefully... (not the first, but other attempts were basically an epic fail) .... the start of something new here in my little corner of the internet and I'm really excited to get started. This is going to become a learning experience for both me and the Bf. I apologize in advance for all my amateur/awkward posing and my Bf's ability to point and shoot with my little Canon PowerShot.
This little photoshoot took place on our way home from an amazing dinner at All India on Davie St, Downtown Vancouver on Saturday night. We decided to walk down near the water and enjoy the view from English Bay.

In the water

I love this video, and I thought it might help you guys keep going during what feels like the longest week ever. You can hear my whole family in it, I think it hilarious. And, you should know, Cracker (my sister's dog) never voluntarily goes in the water. He's a little afraid of it, as of a lot of things ;)
It's basically my favourite memory from Fam Jam 2011. Gotta love my furry nephew!

Summer Solstice

last summer at Wasaga Beach

Happy first day of summer! I'm so excited to be experiencing summer in Vancouver for the first time. When my Bf and I moved out here it was in the middle of winter and everyone we met told us to hold out because its gonna be worth it!
I've come up with a list of some summer activities that I plan on doing this summer, I hope I get to them all!

1. Visit the Island (planned! July 28-30!)
2. Go to the local farmer's market
3. Hang out at a music festival
4. Camping
5. Swim in the ocean
6. Have as many beach bbq's as possible
7. Watch movies at the Drive-in in Langley
8. Go on random drives
9. Ride a bicycle
10. Eat corn on the cob

Check this out!

The June Issue for Stylust is out! Check out my article, and of course the rest of the issue!!!

look what i made!

When my Bff was getting closer to her due date, all I could think about was what can I get her that means a little more. I thought and thought, and all I could come up with was the practical things, clothes, diapers, and other day to day things. That's when I decided to make her something. I needed to pick something that was gender friendly, the sex of the baby was a surprise, as well as wanting to challenge myself. My knitting skills had been growing and once I put the 2 together, I came across this cute pattern that was super easy! (even for a slightly above beginner knitter). I decided on brown and tan, this way they'd look like little leather mary jane's. As you can tell, I should have used the newborn sizing not the regular, but oh well, Maddie will grow into them.

Little one

One of the big highlights of Fam Jam 2011 was meeting my Bff's little one. Maddox, aka Maddie. She is such a little cutie!! I can't lie, I was a little nervous holding her for the first time. She was only about 2 weeks old, now she's 1 month, but once I held her in my arms, I knew I'd be spoiling this little lady for years to come. Maybe one day I'll be cool Aunt Holly and take her to buy her first pair of heels or she'll tell me all about that boy in her class, or whatever it is thats going on in her life. I'll be there for her, no matter what.
Happy 1 month Maddie!

Fam Jam 2011 Part 2

Let me tell you where my love for cottaging began. Growing up my family rented the same cottage every summer for nearly 15 years. So often that it felt like ours. Some summers it was only for a week or so, others it was a month or so. My sisters and I grew up with that relaxing, beachy experience and it stuck with us. Cottage = relaxation, and that's just the way it is. Because of our cottage years, we have grown closer and that also means lots of inside jokes, secret telling, and lots of outdoor fun. We've grown to love the small town vibes that cottage country gives and were able to feel very at home there. This cottage adventure took place in a small town called Fenlon Falls. We had visited it during some other family vacation years ago, and I've become familiar with it because my bff and her husband escaped the city life and moved here after they got married. It's such a gorgeous little town, Who wouldn't want to raise their family here?
I can't wait till next year for our next Fam Jam!! Who, knows, maybe it'll be on the westcoast! ;)

Fam Jam 2011 Part 1

I'm finally getting my act together and posting about my amazing family vacation. As you know, my sister planned this trip as a Christmas gift last year, and we were all so super excited about it. My family is really close and we love just hanging out with each other.
Come Friday night we all finally arrived at the cottage (including my furry nephew!), we got unpacked and sat around catching up with each other. Starting the following day and on through the rest of the week memories were being made. Flying kites, playing badminton, boating, sunning, reading and most definitely laughing. We were super lucky weather wise, it was the first taste of summer weather in Ontario. And it helped having the cottage right on the water, that meant a nice breeze to keep the humidity away.
Now that its all over and we're back to regular life, I know we all miss each other a little bit more.

*there's more to come of my family fun!!

Happy Weekend!

Hey Everyone! Have a lovely weekend! I'm off on Saturday so I'll get to actually enjoy a bit of it. Yay!! My only plans so far are to hopefully change my phone number to a British Columbia number and to also get my British Columbia Driver's Liscence. Does that sound permanent or what??!! Hehehe, I kinda like it. Here's to hoping its warm and sunny!!
For all you Vancouverites, GO CANUCKS GO!!! Tonight could be a life changing game. And of course I'm working, so You better be cheering so loud that I can hear you all the way on South Granville!!

I'm baaack!

Hello Lovelies! and Happy Monday to you all!
So, last week was one of the best weeks of my life! How could it not be??
Amazing weather (the start of summer in good old cottage country, Ontario), wholesome family fun, home cooked meals, and lots of laughter.
My family and I are super close and I just love when we get quality time together to just be us. I'll have a few photos up on my next couple of posts (including meeting my bff's new bundle of joy!), but here is one of my favourites ;)

Glad to be back everyone! I missed you desperately!!
How was your week? Anything new and exciting??
