travel tuesday - Marseilles, France

The south of France has a totally different feel compared to the heart of Paris. Very much seaside and exotic. Marseilles is a beautiful port city filled with great views and amazing food. While there my Bf and I spent most of our time walking around the Vieux Port area, where most of the shops and restaurants are, surrounding the marina area. (We were only there for about 2 and a half days). We did also hit the beach, however the beach itself wasn't fantastic, it was mostly gravel and very thin, but the ocean water was the perfect temperature to dive right in. We even saw a little mini-jellyfish type thing (I held in my scream when I noticed it, I'm a little afraid of them, and there were a lot of children around). One of the meals we had was fish soup. It looks like a think brownish broth and smells kinda fishy, but is full of flavor and surprisingly delicious. With all of this being said, if I had the chance to visit the south of France again, I would select a different city to visit, such as Nice, Cannes or St. Tropez. Unless we were staying at some sort of resort, which we couldn't afford, Marseilles would have been a better experience. Id recommended that to all of you too. I'll just have to go again and see these other places.
